Munich, Germany (PRWEB) May 14, 2013
Today the general availability release of EmpowerID 2013, an industry-leading Identity, Access and Cloud Management platform, was announced at the 2013 European Identity & Cloud (EIC) Conference in Munich. The new release builds on EmpowerIDs broad functionality as a highly scalable, workflow-based platform with the addition of many new features to simplify single sign-on and access management for Cloud and on-premise web applications.
Creating a better user web experience is defining the new frontier for computing in the era of Bring Your Own Device. Organizations recognize that enabling customers, partners and vendors to securely access and to successfully interact with their many resources, including legacy applications, requires clever new approaches. That is why we created a completely new HTML5 web-based application utilizing responsive web design and a natural syntax-driven tile menu system for EmpowerID 2013 to ensure a great experience on every screen. With its responsive design, SSO application dashboard, device registration and tracking, multi-factor authentication and OAuth server, EmpowerID easily handles the most sophisticated of web access scenarios, said Patrick Parker, CEO of EmpowerID.
EmpowerID 2013s new Web Access Management (WAM) functionality augments existing federated Single Sign-On (SSO) facilities to enforce corporate security policies, protecting enterprise resources from unauthorized access, and enabling Single Sign-On (SSO) for web applications that do not support SAML.
EmpowerID also extends centralized authentication and access control to enterprise applications and devices with a new LDAP Virtual Directory Service (VDS) and RADIUS server. The VDS is built on the scalable Google Node.js platform and acts as an abstraction layer between disparate data stores, including: payroll systems, HR systems, Active Directory, custom applications and other sources. EmpowerIDs VDS allows applications to interact with these data sources without being directly connected to them. Both the VDS and RADIUS server leverage EmpowerIDs multifactor authentication services.
The new multifactor authentication services built into the core of the EmpowerID 2013 platform eliminate the costs associated with third party token licenses. Its flexible authentication options allow the use of OATH-compliant hardware tokens or smartcards, as well as no cost options like software tokens and one-time passwords when appropriate.
For Microsoft SharePoint, EmpowerID 2013 extends its Single Sign-On and access management capabilities to provide inventory and access request workflows for SharePoint sites and groups as well as SharePoint user profile synchronization.
By expanding access options, EmpowerID 2013 accelerates projects, lowers costs and extends Web Access Management to a more diverse set of applications than ever before.
Other enhancements in EmpowerID 2013 include: numerous new SSO connectors, including an Office 365 connector that functions without ADFS or DirSync; FIPS compliance; improved multi-tenancy; expanded foreign language support; and many other enhancements.
Proven in dozens of industries across the globe, EmpowerID sets a new standard for Identity, Access and Cloud Management platforms with the release of the 2013 version. It offers unparalleled flexibility to organizations in how they are able to manage their users and how their users are able to access resources.
About EmpowerID | An Industry Leader in Cloud Security Identity and Access Management
EmpowerID installs quickly and delivers better time to value than any other leading Identity Management platform with over 400 pre-built and highly-configurable Identity and Access Management (IAM) workflows.
The EmpowerID approach differs from costly and inefficient legacy IAM products by starting with a platform that is built entirely from one single, highly-scalable codebase that is built entirely on a visually-designed workflow architecture. EmpowerID combines IAM with Business Process Automation (BPA) to create simpler and more easily customized solutions. The EmpowerID Workflow Studio allows trained users to map out complex automated processes that conform to unique organizational requirements quickly and effectively and it allows developers to connect to existing processes and services and to create new workflows.
Other key innovations of EmpowerID include: a sophisticated Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) technology that can utilize multiple organizational hierarchies to create an intuitive and highly effective method for managing identity relationships, while also supporting Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) and direct assignment of privileges; a Metadirectory and Virtual Directory that provide fast access to identity profile attributes; an integrated and standards-based SSO; a configurable HTML5 interface based on responsive design that allows content to be properly formatted for a satisfying user experience in the era of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD); and finally, a deep bidirectional connector model that provides clients with a single pane of glass for visibility and control over an enterprises entire identity infrastructure.
